This Week at Weedon Bec

It was my great pleasure last week to accompany Year 5 on their trip, by train, to the Natural History Museum and BBC Television Centre.  The children’s behaviour was exemplary as we travelled on both the Virgin Train from Rugby and on the Underground around London.  From a staff point of view I cannot tell you how stressful these trips are, both to organise, and to actually facilitate.  I don’t know another Primary school who would take their children to London, especially on the train.  We are very lucky here at Weedon Bec to have staff who are willing to take the calculated risks to make these trips happen.  Thanks must go to Mrs McCaughey for organising the trip and Mr Drewe (Year 5’s student teacher), Mr Havell (Governor) and especially Miss Rushall and Mrs Chambers who stepped in at the last minute to accompany the children on the trip.

This trip has come about because of the way that we are looking at wider opportunities for the children as part of our new International Primary Curriculum.  We are now 6 months into delivering the new curriculum to our children and we are keen to hear your opinions.  Please complete our questionnaire on our new curriculum and have a look at the photos of the trip.

Also on the website we have introduced another new section. On the left hand side of the homepage you will find a section called ‘Our Blog’.  Here you will find the latest photographs and updates from classes on an almost daily basis!  Let us know what you think!
